Virgin Coconut Oil keeps these doctors healthy

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is keeping doctors healthy in an informal study conducted by Dr.Nikki King-Chao and Frederick Chao with the support of Team Asia Corporation and Tropicana Food Products.

The study on VCO as an immunity-booster for front liners to prevent them from contracting COVID-19 involved doctors and nurses from several hospitals around Metro Manila who had agreed to follow the VCO intake prescriptions and complete a journal.

Good News Pilipinas learned from Frederick Chao that 20 individuals – 18 physicians and 2 nurses – were included in Batch 1 of the VCO study conducted from April 22 to May 7, 2020. The participants included doctors from Emergency Medicine, ICU – Intensivist, Internal Medicine, Gastroenterologists, an anesthesiologist, a General Surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, Orthopedic Surgeons, and a pulmonologist.

The health professionals were working in the following hospitals: Adventist Medical Center Asian Hospital Dr. Fabella Memorial Hospital National Center for Mental Health The Medical City Makati Medical Center New Bilibid Prison Hospital Protacio Hospital San Juan de Dios Hospital University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Medical Center.

Each participant was given 1 bottle VCO and 1 bottle Nasal Spray (VCO + menthol) and was requested to take them daily.

VCO Dosage, Frequency, Duration:

1. VCO – all participants complied with the recommended dosage of minimum 1 tablespoon a day, some took 2 tablespoons, 85% ingested the VCO daily, 15% ingested every 2 days

2. Nasal Spray (VCO + menthol) – except for 1, all participants complied with the recommended dosage of 1 spray per nostril per day, 10% even took it twice a day. 75% did this daily, 20% did this every 2 days, and 5% did not take it.

Doctors who participated in the study gave positive feedback about VCO.

“I usually have throat pains that develop into cough & colds during that certain time of the month. But this month I was asymptomatic, meaning the product boosted my immune system. I am happy and satisfied with the results that I already bought some for the rest of my family,” said Dr. Mina de Guzman from the Emergency Medicine department of UERRMC.

“Even if DOST results are still pending, I am optimistic it will yield positive results. I feel more protected using VCO and Nasal Spray,” said Dr. Liza Garcia, a Pulmonologist at The Medical City, referring to the ongoing clinical trials of VCO as a treatment for COVID-19 patients in Metro Manila and CALABARZON hospitals.

The good feedback about the first study led to the conduct of Batch 2 study involving another 20 doctors including some very prominent ones such as the former medical director of Makati Med. Improvements were done on the Batch 2 study with more items, more detailed instructions, and a book about VCO. The 2nd study started on May 20 and will end on June 6, 2020.

Chao says that while the Department of Science and Technology studies involve giving VCO to patients, his mission is to help frontliners save others. “Each doctor/nurse that we protect from contracting COVID translates to saving many hundreds of patients’ lives. Together we can beat COVID,” Chao added.
